We work collaboratively as one team, so you won’t be limited to working with only one senior practitioner. Workplace Wizards is a leading boutique advisory firm in Australia specialising in employment law, industrial relations, work health and safety (WHS), workers’ compensation and human resources (HR).

What we are looking for:

  • a driven, honest, human and accountable graduate lawyer who puts client experience and teamwork at the forefront of their work;
  • a young professional eager to become a recognised workplace and industrial relations expert who can confidently and independently advise on matters arising under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) and related legislation/frameworks;
  • a highly personable and confident communicator to interact capably with clients from a wide range of industries;
  • high levels of independence, flexibility, and initiative as well as the attitude and desire (and effectiveness and efficiency) to learn and grow;
  • a team player prepared to develop and nurture relationships (both internally and externally); and
  • an employee who is open-minded, adaptable and demonstrates great attention to detail.

Your key responsibilities will include helping to advise on the full spectrum of workplace and industrial relations issues including advising on strategic HR and P&C matters, employee performance and conduct issues, workplace culture and engagement, workplace complaints and disputes, terminations and dismissal strategies, restructures and redundancies, EBAs, advising on and reviewing company policies & procedures, conducting independent workplace reviews and facilitated discussions amongst our clients, and delivering training and presentations to clients.

What we need:

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor of Laws degree;
  • Background and prior knowledge/experience in a consulting or law firm desirable but not essential;
  • A passionate and enthusiastic 'self-starter' approach;
  • Excellent self-management and organisational skills;
  • Demonstrated desire and ideally experience working in a client-focused, and fast-paced professional environment;
  • People skills which enable you to build relationships easily and be an operator who can be a trusted pair of hands;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly and confidently research, problem-solve and write about simple and complex problems for business owners as well as line and HR managers;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Ideally knowledge of best practice employment and HR practices (such as modern awards and the national employment standards) and a working/general knowledge of workers’ compensation and WHS legislation;
  • Maturity and resilience to work in our uncertain post-COVID-19 environment;
  • A collaborative and consultative approach within a small expert team; and
  • Permission to work in Australia.
